Reflections and Rainbows

There's an inevitable and annual nostalgia that arises on and around May 29th.  The day God gave us Elli.  It's been 3 years and my heart still thinks it happened yesterday.  We watched a video the other night that took us back to those first grief-stricken hours and days when we tried desperately to console our daughter as she was abruptly taken from her foster mother of 2 years.  Her world was turned upside down by these strangers whom she would eventually call Mom and Dad with such ease and comfort.  After the healing began to permeate within her heart, Elli has been a continual refresher that provokes the unspeakable joy that God lavishes on us even in the midst of an anguished and heartbroken world.  I reflect on the obstacles that within a short 5 year spec of time that this little soul has already survived and conquered, and I have the pleasure of witnessing the relentless gladness that illuminates her once troubled heart.  Recently, there was a thunderstorm that occurred that provoked a bit of anxiety for Elli.  When the storm had passed, the sun in the West produced a full sized rainbow in the East.  As Elli witnessed this miraculous phenomenon from our front sidewalk, she threw her arms in the air and exclaimed "I just love you God!"  So today, we also throw our arms in the air with praise to our Majestic God as we celebrate our little rainbow that He appropriately named Ellianna (God has answered).
